Increase of electricity costs has no connection to real economy

Bucharest -The increase of the electricity tariff as from July 1 endangers the existence of entire sectors within the national economy, such as the fertilizers field and has nothing to do either with the real economy or with the costs from the European Union countries, stated yesterday Petre Milut, the National Union of Romanian Employer (UNPR) President. Price increases for utilities enforced today
Bucharest - Starting today, the natural gas tariffs increase by 10.2 per cent, those for electric power will be 5.2 per cent higher and the national reference price for the thermal energy will be 20 per cent higher. For natural gases, the prices are included in four categories, according to the used quantity - tariffs vary between ROL 5,911,600 for 1,000 cubic metres. The prices used by the two Distrigaz branches are different, those of Distrigaz Sud being slightly higher than those of Distrigaz Nord. These values do not include VAT or excises. Details...

Employers demand president Basescu's involvement
A third of the trains - as negotiated by the railway administration and the unions - were running yesterday, as the general strike continues. The strike was initiated on June 8 by engine drivers and depot employees. Of the 565 negotiated trains, 12 are express trains, 18 fast trains, 14 intercity and 24 international trains. As for slow trains, 86 inter-regional trains are running, as well 27 regional trains to Bucharest, 56 - Craiova, 119 - Timisoara, 56 - Cluj, 59 - Brasov, as well as 20 and 22 trains, respectively for regional trains to Galati and Constanta.
